May 13, 2019 10/8/15: This guide will also work for Windows 10 64-bit I recently scored a Spartan 3E Starter Board on eBay. So, thinking I was on to a winner as I used this board during my time at uni, I downloaded and installed Xilinx ISE WebPACK. Jan 30, 2018 Xilinx have just announced that ISE 14.7 officially supports Windows 10. Mojo IDE in Win 10 and ISE is in the VM as supplied by Xilinx. Trying to get Mojo loader to work in the VM was just wasting too much time and isn't necessary. So the only link between Mojo+ISE (VM) now is the Shared Folder so they can both access the project files. (Note: Xilinx ISE 14.7 from December 2017 does NOT support the Spartan-3A) To run the October 2013 release on Windows 10: install as usual, then do the following: 1. Navigate to the following ISE install directory: Xilinx14.7ISEDSISElibnt64 2. Rename the file 'libPortability.dll' to 'libPortability.dll.orig'.
I recently purchased a Spartan-3E from eBay, because it's the board my university uses for FPGA classes, and I wanted to get a headstart prior to taking the class next year. Has anyone had (a successful) experience getting this setup to work on Windows 10? I know there are a handful of obstacles regarding ISE 14.7's lack of support beyond Windows 7.
This EEVBlog forum post allowed me to successfully run the Design Suite and Impact:
Ise Design Suite Windows 10
However, I've come to an impasse when trying to get communication to the Spartan-3E. The device isn't recognized automatically, and I can't find any downloads for the drivers via Xilinx. The most reasonable suggestion I've found is to run a Windows 7 virtual machine, though I would prefer to avoid that route if possible. A friend suggested trying to run the drivers in compatibility mode on Windows 10, but again, I don't believe I actually have the drivers. I also saw suggestions about deleting and reinstalling Jungo WinDriver (which does exist on my machine). Is this for the normal USB interface, or is this driver being specifically used for some kind of JTAG boundary scan?
Any help is much appreciated, I'll be getting a new laptop soon and I'm considering reverting the whole thing to Windows 7 if that's the only way to handle this!
